We are very proud of our commitment to music and the arts here at Colorado Springs School
District Eleven.  Our 5 high schools and numerous middle and elementary schools all offer
string education, free of charge, during the school day.

Palmer High School has been noted as one of the premier music programs in the State - our
students excel at local and state-wide honor groups and have competed in national and
international music competitions.

Chamber Orchestra is a group of highly advanced string players, audition required
Symphonic Orchestra is a group advanced players, with at least 6 years playing
experience, instructor approval required.
Concert Strings is a middle level group, consisting of students from all grades who have
not played very long or may be beginners.

The Palmer High School Orchestras are under the direction of Mrs. Alice Caplinger.  Mrs.
Caplinger has a Master of Music Education degree with an emphasis in string education, from
Hardin-Simmons University, in Abilene, TX.  She has been teaching in the public schools since
1991, and is a former conductor of the Abilene Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado
Springs Youth Symphony Orchestras, Little Mozart String Program, and has been a guest
clinician with local honor groups.
